All pictures are keyworded and captioned, and the archive is fully searchable by the public. Anyone may download lo-res watermarked comps for placement only. Although registration is not required to search, a single Digital Railroad membername and password can be used to create lightboxes, share photos, request image pricing and receive high resolution download permissions. REQUESTING IMAGES____________________________
All images available in the archive are RIGHTS PROTECTED. When submitting image licensing requests, please be as detailed as possible about your proposed use, including size, placement, duration of use and circulation, as this will help us propose an appropriate quote for you.
Below is a step by step procedure for obtaining images. You can
download these instructions here or
open a new window with the instructions here while you work our archives.
1. Search for your images.
2. Add selected images to a lightbox (you will have to open an account
here to create a lightbox)
3. When finished, go to your lightbox (under "Lightboxes/Lightbox Management" in navigation bar)
4. Select all images in the lightbox
5. Under the "Batch actions" dropdown, select the "Get High-Res" option
6. Make sure all images are selected (check the box under each image) and click the "Request" button
7. A new window will open where you will fill in how you intend to use the image.
8. The only required information is "How will the image be used?", but the more information you give us, the better we will be able to price the license. Use the "Other use details:" box to give us more information.
9. Scroll to the bottom of the page, enter a message if you want, then click the "Send New Message" button.
10. We will reply with terms and conditions.
